CityFibre has completed a digital network rollout in Newcastle, providing over 50,000 business owners and residents with faster and more reliable broadband access. The Kenton, Arthur’s Hill, West Denton, Scotswood, Benwell Grange, Walker, Walkergate, Holystone, St Anthony’s, and Cowgate areas of the city now have access to the new network. CityFibre will be focusing on the Fenham, Benton, South Heaton, Chapel House, Lemington, Chapel Park, and Kingston Park areas throughout 2024. Full fibre networks using 100% fibre optics provide faster and more reliable connections, with fewer drops in connection, less lag, and speeds of up to 2.5Gbps.
CityFibre started building the network in 2019, and Newcastle is now one of the numerous locations benefiting from a full fibre upgrade. The most advanced network of its kind, it detects and resolves faults as they arise while supporting increased data consumption over the coming decades.
Paul Wakefield, CityFibre’s Senior Partnership Manager for Newcastle, is pleased with the progress. He commented, “We are delighted to have over 50,000 premises ‘Ready For Service’ in our Newcastle rollout, bringing the best digital connectivity available to the city.” Steve Manning, ICT Solutions Architect at Newcastle City Council, added to the positivity, saying, “CityFibre’s investment will ensure Newcastle has the digital foundations it will need to thrive as our lives move increasingly online in the years ahead.”
To benefit from the new network, business owners and residents need to check their postcode to see if the service is available to them. Anyone interested in improving their streaming, gaming, or working experience can contact CityFibre to find out more.
