York has welcomed a new, £2 million luxurious boutique townhouse hotel, called New Holgate. This establishment aims to create a “home away from home” for couples, families, and solo travelers. New Holgate originally comprised of some Grade II listed Victorian townhouses built in 1846. Following its acquisition by Nick Bradley, the hotel has undergone substantial renovations and redesigns to emerge as a luxury boutique hotel.
New Holgate has been furnished with 12 individually designed bedrooms arranged over four floors. All the ground-floor rooms are dog-friendly, bringing the whole family into consideration. The award-winning Yorkshire interior design practice, Studio Two Interiors, designed the hotel’s interior with colorful iron inspired fixtures and artwork as a nod to York’s industrial heritage.
The bedroom suites incorporate furnishings inspired by the styles of New York and Amsterdam, combined with extra touches such as Hypnos mattresses, large flat screen smart TVs, and rainfall showers, among others. Besides, the hotel’s focus on sustainability guided the restoration of many of its building’s original features. There are also plans in place to reduce its carbon footprint, including on-site electric vehicle chargers.
New Holgate has a unique menu of regionally sourced food and drinks, most of which come from locally developed partnerships. Guests can enjoy their meals in the light and airy breakfast room and whiskey lounge and bar.
Owner of New Holgate, Nick Bradley, believes that this luxurious boutique hotel will be a great addition to York’s hotel scene. He hopes that the hotel will attract visitors from all over the world, and he intends to create space for local businesses and residents to enjoy New Holgate.
Overall, New Holgate creates a luxurious, peaceful getaway for all types of travelers, staying true to its goal of being a “home away from home.”
