Hellens Group, a leading property development company in North East England, has taken a step forward in their Queens Meadow development project in Hartlepool, with the submission of a detailed planning permission for the first phase. Queens Meadow, already an established business park housing renowned businesses such as Pro-Pipe and Cleveland Fire Brigade Headquarters, will soon see the addition of new commercial space. Working together with Hartlepool Borough Council and the Tees Valley Combined Authority, Hellens Group’s plan is expected to create up to 785 direct jobs and 354 indirect jobs through the supply chain.
The first phase of the development project is set to provide around 104,000 sq ft of office space for general business use, estimated to generate approximately 130 new jobs. Besides commercial spaces, the initial phase will also include the provision of residential developments, which is expected to not only enhance the business park’s growth but also to contribute significantly towards housing needs within the borough. Approximately 210 dwellings with different sized homes ranging from 2, 3, and 4 bedrooms could be established on the Queens Meadow site as well.
Queens Meadow development has two areas within its vicinity: the first being the larger southern part, identified for providing about 452,000 sq ft of employment areas catering to general industry and storage and distribution. The second area, a smaller parcel to the east, is planned to accommodate about 210 dwellings. Gavin Cordwell-Smith, CEO of Hellens Group, expressed his excitement, stating that the Queens Meadow project has the potential to bring about significant opportunities for people to live and work in Hartlepool. He added, “We recently asked people what they thought about our proposals for the development of Queens Meadow development and we have been encouraged to hear messages of support for bringing jobs and much-needed housing to the area.”
Overall, the Queens Meadow development project is a significant leap forward for Hellens Group, Hartlepool Borough Council, and the Tees Valley Combined Authority, with the potential to make a positive impact making an opportunity for people to live and work in the area.
