Giggling Squid, a nationwide chain of Thai restaurants, has selected Leicester as the location for its main distribution network throughout the UK. The group, a trading name of Chokdee Limited and a wholly owned subsidiary of Giggling Restaurants Limited, has recently secured a warehouse unit at Elland Road Leicester for its menu development facility, new product development kitchen, training, and national distribution center.
Andrew + Ashwell, a Leicester-based commercial property specialist, facilitated the lease of the almost 45,000 sq ft warehouse accommodation on the Braunstone Frith Industrial Estate, located three miles west of the city center. The unit is strategically positioned near Leicester’s Outer Ring Road and M1 motorway Junctions 21 and 21A, featuring single-storey warehousing, open-plan two-storey offices, and ample parking.
The restaurant chain, known for its original Thai dishes, currently operates almost 50 restaurants nationwide, employing over 1,500 directly contracted staff. With the new location set to be up and running by the end of March, Giggling Squid also plans to recruit 20 new employees from the Leicester community.
