Camira, an environmental textile manufacturer based in Yorkshire, is commemorating 50 years since its inauguration as Camborne Fabrics. The firm, headquartered in Mirfield and established in 1974 in Huddersfield, currently operates on a global scale, yielding over eight million metres of fabric p.a. with a yearly income exceeding £85m. Camira’s CEO, Alan Williams, underscores the company’s success in providing customers with high quality, eco-friendly fabrics accompanied by exceptional customer service and global logistics. With 650 employees across six locations in the UK and one in Lithuania, Camira sells its products in 75 nations as well as running European, North American, Australian and Chinese offices.
As Alan stresses, “During our 50th year we’ll be celebrating this unique point in history through significant collaborations, events and fresh product launches that all contribute to highlighting sustainability, people, pattern and colour.” Camira’s significant achievements include winning the Queen’s Award for International Trade, Innovation and Sustainable Development, producing the world’s first interior fabric for contract use from nettles, launching “revolutionary” digital printing technology with Camira Print, and investing in wool recycling technology, iinouiio in 2022.
