Bytes Technology Group plc has confirmed Sam Mudd as its permanent CEO and added two independent non-executive directors to its board. Mudd has been an executive director since July 2023 and was appointed interim CEO in February following the resignation of former CEO Neil Murphy who has been accused of engaging in 134 unauthorized share transactions from 2021 to 2023. Bytes has initiated an external investigation into the circumstances relating to an undisclosed share purchase by a PCA with the former non-executive director Alison Vincent. Mudd’s appointment has been made permanent after a selection process led by Patrick De Smedt, with external support. Ross Paterson, a CFO and NED with extensive listed company board experience, and Anna Vikström Persson, formerly chief human resources officer at Pearson plc and executive vice president at Sandvik AB and SSAB AB, have been appointed as non-executive directors to the board. The company is to establish an ESG committee. According to De Smedt, Mudd is an outstanding candidate and has proven her natural ability to lead, her ambition to take BTG forward, and her knowledge of the company’s business, customers, and vendors. The company expects to confirm the release date for its preliminary results for the financial year ended 29th February 2024 shortly and conclude its investigation prior to that date. At IPO in 2020, Bytes was valued at £646.6m, its market cap stands at £1.2 billion today, and its share price has fluctuated. Bytes is a software, security and cloud services specialist.
