DP World has recently announced that its London Gateway Logistics Park has welcomed two manufacturers as its first new tenants. This marks a significant expansion of their UK operations and a clear sign of growing interest in the Thames Freeport area. The Belgian food and catering products business, Ranson and the audio and video product importer and modifier, Destiny Entertainments, are set to move to the Freeport in Q1 2024. The government’s flagship policy prioritises creating hubs for manufacturing and innovation, which is what the London Gateway Logistics Park aims to achieve.
By situating themselves in the London Gateway Logistics Park, these companies will benefit from being in proximity to Europe’s largest and most economically important consumer market, providing access to more than 18 million people. Additionally, as part of the Thames Freeport area, they will also have unrivalled access to 130 ports in over 65 countries and customs procedures.
The VP of Park Development at DP World, Oliver Treneman, commented on the matter, highlighting how the park facilitates an integrated end-to-end approach, providing supply chain solutions, port-to-park and park-to-port services, road links, and access to rail terminals. Treneman also emphasised how London Gateway facilitates the ideal location for value-added manufacturing with shovel-ready infrastructure and highly engaged local authorities.
Meanwhile, Bruno Ranson, CEO of Ranson Group, expressed excitement about the move and the opportunities the move presented. Becoming an active part of a dynamic freeport will open up many more opportunities for his company, improving and increasing trading possibilities with partners across the water for years to come.
All-in-all, these new arrivals can enable the stimulation of trade, driving innovation, supporting energy transitions and transforming lives in London and its eastern boroughs.
