GB Bank has announced the appointment of Mark Sismey-Durrant as its new Chair, a senior banking expert with extensive experience in the sector. Sismey-Durrant replaces Mike Kirsopp, who left his position to pursue an executive career. Sismey-Durrant was the CEO of three rapidly expanding banks for nearly 23 years, most recently at Hampshire Trust Bank where he restructured and scaled the business, raising growth capital of £100m. He has also served on the boards of multiple financial services and banking businesses, including his current position as Chair at digital bank, CashPlus Bank, and Senior Independent Director at PCF Bank.
Sismey-Durrant expressed his eagerness to commence this role, with high hopes of taking GB Bank to the next level in the specialist banking arena. Stephen Lancaster, GB Bank’s CEO and co-founder, expressed his delight to secure Sismey-Durrant’s services as Chair and thanked Kirsopp for his valuable contribution to the business’s growth since its establishment. GB Bank is renowned for its focus on community services, promoting regional knowledge to regenerate and build under-served areas of the UK. SME property investors and developers can access funding solutions up to £3m for commercial and residential projects.
