A pub landlord in Bristol, Sam Gregory, has secured a substantial funding deal to redevelop The Crown Tavern, a Grade II listed building in Bristol’s St. Jude’s area. Gregory, whose Sunday Roast at The Bank Tavern proved exceptionally popular and booked up for four years within hours, will use the funds provided by alternative finance lender Reward Finance Group to expand his portfolio of pubs in the area. Gregory plans to restore and renovate the Crown Tavern, which closed in April 2023, while retaining the pub’s history and traditional character. He expressed gratitude to Reward for providing rapid and flexible funding, enabling him to complete the purchase quickly and adhere to a tight schedule. Gregory aims to reopen The Crown Tavern in March, with his staff across three pubs rising from ten to twenty-five.
Gregory got started at The Bank Tavern, and the opportunity opened up to him when he took over the pub to become its landlord. His success also relies on his partnership with Stephen Best, an industry expert who manages the business’s operational and administrative elements.
