This partnership with EN:Able Futures aims to deliver the next generation of skilled home builders in the North of England. The NHBC Training Hub officially opened on 12 October 2023.
Steve Wood, NHBC CEO, emphasises the significance of bricklaying in housebuilding and explains that this apprenticeship is a gateway to a well-paid and rewarding career. He also highlights that NHBC’s apprenticeships are for everyone and welcomes people from all backgrounds.
Around 400 people have already progressed through NHBC’s bricklaying and construction site supervisor programmes since they became a registered apprenticeship provider in 2020. Alice Clay, the first female to gain her level 2 bricklaying apprenticeship with a Distinction at an NHBC Training Hub, recently spoke to keepmoat employees about her positive experience.
The NHBC Apprenticeship Training Hub, located in Wawne Road, is the fourth dedicated training facility that NHBC has established. It aims to strengthen NHBC’s core purpose of promoting high-quality homes. Efficiency North’s CEO, Lee Parkinson, expresses how the NHBC Training Hub is crucial to the North of England’s offerings.
To encourage more people to join housebuilding, NHBC offers tailored courses designed with input from industry experts. Potential candidates include school leavers, career changers, and women who aspire to work in housebuilding. NHBC apprenticeship programmes enable learning by doing and hands-on work experience.
