The York-based animal health business, Animalcare Group, has sold its majority shareholding in Identicare to BG Bidco 21 Limited, owned by funds managed by Bridgepoint Advisors II Limited, for £24.9m in cash. This transaction marks a significant value realization for the company and its shareholders, allowing Animalcare Group to focus on growth in the pharmaceutical-based animal health market. Following the separation of Identicare from the UK pharmaceuticals business within Animalcare Ltd earlier this year, the balance sheet of the Group has been strengthened, enabling the acceleration of organic and inorganic growth initiatives. Jenny Winter, Chief Executive Officer, expressed pride in the achievements with Identicare and emphasized the importance of the sale in strengthening the financial position of the Group, providing additional flexibility and resources for the growth of the pharmaceutical-focused animal health business.
