MOONHUB, a virtual reality interactive training platform, has secured a $1.4m (£1.1m) investment led by Danish VC Unconventional Ventures, bringing its total raised to $4.5m (£3.57m). Pi Labs and Ada Ventures have both provided follow-on investments. MOONHUB, established in 2016 by CEO Dami Hastrup with co-founders Vinh Ly and Hannah Sutcliffe, offers CPD-accredited immersive VR learning experiences and patented Spot and Jot technology. Its services are used by global brands like Just Eat, BNP Paribas, Amazon, Zurich, Warner Brothers, and Anglian Care to aid their employees’ development around the world. The new investment will be used for product development and market expansion.
MOONHUB’s VR technology can streamline remote training, providing flexibility and accessibility to employees across diverse locations. This workflow ensures seamless training delivery and effective learning experience by overcoming geographical barriers. The latest investment will be used to develop new products and expand into untapped markets.
MOONHUB’s CEO, Dami Hastrup, expressed his excitement over the investment and said,”2024 is a transformational moment for MOONHUB…we’ve worked towards this moment, to become the recognised leader in immersive training, working with global brands that want to support their teams’ development through the use of exciting new technologies.”
The new investment will be used to fund MOONHUB’s growth across different sectors, such as insurance, security and social care, with their ELARA product. MOONHUB has a 98 per cent approval rating for its dementia care VR training, which has made professionals feel more valued, connected and prepared for their work. This feedback inspires MOONHUB as a team to offer cutting-edge immersive learning experiences.
Nora Bavey, Founder and General Partner of Unconventional Ventures, expressed her interest in this project and said “Investing in MOONHUB was a clear choice for us as impact investors, driven by the urgent need to close the skills gap and recognising its significant social impact…By democratizing access to high-quality education and bridging geographical barriers, MOONHUB contributes to greater inclusion and opportunities for individuals from all backgrounds, empowers workers with new skills and enhances their employability.”
Spanning sectors like facilities management, security, and social care, MOONHUB replicates real-world scenarios to create a hands-on learning environment that’s secure, cost-effective and minimises reliance on physical resources. This produces unique employee insight on skills and performance, enabling management to make better informed data-driven decisions. MOONHUB’s courses expedite training completion in 25% of the time required by conventional methods. VR technology has been found to increase learning retention to 75% compared to just 10% for traditional classroom training programs, and minimise skill fade by 52%.
