A civil engineer who specializes in complex 3D modeling has relocated her business to Barnsley in order to expand into the UK market and provide CAD design software training. Danuta Rak, the founder of 3DR Design and Training Studio Ltd, has secured an office at DMC 01 in Barnsley. Having moved from Rzeszów, Poland, she intends to utilize her new base as a launchpad for growth by delivering 3D digital model applications to clients in various sectors, such as design and construction, medicine, and research. Additionally, Danuta will offer training in AutoCad software.
To facilitate the company’s move, 3DR has received support from a Tech Welcome Grant. This initiative, backed by the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA), aims to incentivize tech businesses to relocate to the region, as well as encourage existing start-ups to move into their first physical office space. The grant provides assistance with accommodation costs for up to one year, with the percentage of rent coverage determined by the number of jobs the business brings to the region. Eligible companies can choose to relocate to any South Yorkshire workspace, including Sheffield Tech Parks, Kollider, RIDO Business Hubs, and DMC 01 and 02.
Out of all the applicants, 3DR was the first company to receive a Tech Welcome Support Grant, which will cover 40 percent of their rent for a 209 sq ft office at DMC 01 in Barnsley for the duration of 12 months. Danuta expressed her gratitude for the financial support, emphasizing the importance of such assistance for new businesses to progress and develop. She was eager to explore opportunities in the UK and found the Tech Welcome Grant to be instrumental in making the decision to relocate. Danuta also commended the quick and easy application process and the helpful and welcoming attitude exhibited by the DMC team.
As a civil engineer specializing in urban construction, Danuta has been working with commercial and academic clients in Poland since 2016. Moreover, she has lectured on AutoCad software at universities in Warsaw, Lublin, and Dąbrowa Górnicza. 3DR’s co-directors include Professor Marek Magniszewski of the University of Rzeszow, a 3D printing specialist, and her sister Iwona Rak, who already resides in Barnsley and oversees client liaison and project management.
Makauley Barron, the Tech Welcome Lead at DMC, expressed their delight in awarding the region’s first Tech Welcome Grant to 3DR and supporting their move to DMC 01 in Barnsley. Danuta has already begun establishing vital connections within the collaborative business community and has explored the state-of-the-art MakerLab facilities, which include 3D printers. The team at DMC looks forward to witnessing how 3DR will collaborate with other creative and digital companies in the region and foster business growth.
Danuta further commented on her experience at DMC, highlighting its friendly atmosphere and regarding it as more than just an office, but a second home. She expressed admiration for Barnsley as an up-and-coming town and conveyed her excitement about her company’s relocation to South Yorkshire.
