Gresham House Ventures has recently invested £3.1m into Mable Therapy, a digital health platform that provides speech and language therapy and counseling services for children. This investment addresses the growing need for such services, as there are approximately 1.4m children in the UK with long-term speech, language, or communication needs, and one in five children aged 5-16 have a diagnosed mental health problem.
Founded in 2015 by Martha Currie and Elliot Agró, Mable Therapy offers a user-friendly online platform that connects children with therapists who deliver live, one-on-one sessions. The platform is designed to create a child-friendly environment and ultimately improve therapeutic outcomes. Mable offers its services directly to consumers at an affordable price, as well as providing solutions for the education and healthcare sectors, where technology adoption is becoming increasingly important to meet the growing demand. In the past year alone, Mable has delivered over 22,000 hours of therapy to more than 3,000 children.
To support Mable’s growth, Gresham House Ventures has facilitated the appointment of Oli White as the company’s CEO. White brings significant commercial expertise in the health and education technology sectors, having previously served as the chief commercial officer at Doc Abode. Additionally, Andrea Carr, an education business leader, will join Mable as an independent chair.
This investment from Gresham House Ventures follows several other recent investments in the healthcare and education sectors. In April 2023, they invested £4m into neuro-inclusion solutions provider Cognassist, and in September 2022, they invested £4.5m in Orri, a specialist clinic for the treatment of eating disorders. The investment in Mable is the fourth new investment made by Gresham House Ventures in 2023. Mable Therapy was advised on the transaction by Zuleika Salter and James Balicki at finnCap Group.
Benjamin Faulkner, associate director at Gresham House Ventures, highlights the transformative power of Mable’s technology in the lives of children and emphasizes the potential for growth within the education and health sectors. Martha Currie and Elliot Agró, the clinical director and head of product and technology at Mable Therapy, express their excitement about the investment from Gresham House Ventures, as it will enable them to expand their support services to even more families across the UK.
