One of the largest law firms in the north is relocating to a new office in a bid to support its growth. Burnetts Solicitors LLP will move to 1 Citygate, investing £1m in the new premises. Due to take place in early 2024, the move is set to consolidate Burnetts’ position as one of the region’s fastest-growing law firms. On the seventh floor of the new building, the company will create what it calls a “state-of-the-art” environment for staff and clients, featuring more than 60 workstations, meeting rooms, a hub for staff to congregate, and an eatery. The office has been designed to encourage collaboration and reflect the potential split of working time between office and home-based locations.
The move to a larger space aims to facilitate Burnetts’ “next period of growth”. Nick Gutteridge, the company’s managing partner, explained that it is necessary to have an environment that attracts and retains staff, which works for clients and maintains the firm’s culture and values. Burnetts specialises in banking, commercial property, corporate, employment and litigation. In addition to Newcastle, it also has offices in Carlisle and Cockermouth.
