Red Loft, a leading property and development consultancy, has expanded its portfolio of local authority clients significantly in the past decade. The company has served 38 different local authorities over the last ten years, including 23 in London alone. Red Loft provides an extensive range of services to local authorities, developers, and registered providers, from site assessments to sales and marketing. The group’s services have supported councils in various locations across England, including London Boroughs such as Barnet and Ealing, as well as Eastbourne and Lewes.
Partner at Red Loft, Danny Sutcliffe, said, “With local authorities’ vast regional knowledge and awareness, they’re often best situated to provide homes in their areas. Although many councils are investing in their development capabilities, scarcity of time and resources can hold them back. Our main objective is to assist them in enhancing their affordable housing outputs, allowing them to provide their communities with the homes they require.”
Recently, the company signed an extensive partnership agreement with the London Borough of Southwark to provide a wide range of services such as feasibility assessments and development support, among others. Red Loft’s project management division is overseeing the redevelopment of a section of the Aylesbury Estate in Walworth, a crucial regeneration initiative that will see the construction of 122 homes. The development features a mix of affordable and market rental units, a library, a health centre, and additional community facilities funded by the London Borough of Southwark, as well as two commercial units.
Red Loft is overseeing the design development, financial assessment, and site viability management, which entails navigating obstacles such as grant funding availability, infrastructure (including UK Power Networks), and viability in the context of a comprehensive local community participation programme. Additionally, Red Loft conducted a comprehensive review of the Borough’s entire programme. The team carried out a thorough delivery optimisation evaluation to help guide the Council’s development strategy and identify new areas of demand.
Red Loft’s sales and marketing arm has been entrusted with marketing Southwark’s housing programme to local people and first-time buyers. The sales and marketing unit is presently marketing five schemes with a total of 94 homes available for shared ownership, situated across the borough, from Canada Water to Peckham.
