Chris Stott has been appointed as the new senior partner of KPMG UK’s Manchester office, replacing Warren Middleton who is retiring after 27 years with the firm.
Stott, a transaction services partner with almost 30 years’ experience of working with clients in the North, will lead a team of 1,500 employees in the firm’s One St. Peter’s Square office from January 1, 2024. Middleton, a technology partner and senior partner of KPMG’s Manchester office since 2019, will retire in spring 2024. Stott said he looked forward to building on Middleton’s “great work”.
“Our teams in Manchester are brilliant and incredibly talented so I am looking forward to working closely with them as we continue to deliver high quality advice and solutions for our clients in the region,” he added.
Middleton praised his team and work at KPMG, particularly in fostering partnerships with the University Academy 92 for social mobility, supporting local tech businesses and opening the Ignition Centre.
Stott, who is also UK lead for the food and drink sector at KPMG, expressed his excitement for the opportunity to lead the Manchester team in a fast-growing market with an “enviable mix of businesses, organisations and professionals”.
He said that businesses need support in challenging macroeconomic conditions and that he would play an important role in advising them on changes that will help their businesses not only survive, but thrive.
