Roberts Mart, a family-owned flexible packaging manufacturer, is currently undergoing planned expansion and making significant investments in infrastructure and machinery. The company is investing over £7 million in constructing a new single-storey warehouse extension and an additional extension to the existing ink store, both of which are being added to the main site building at Aire Valley House in Leeds.
In terms of equipment investment, Roberts Mart has spent 4 million Euros on an Allstein Hydro 10 colour flexo printing press and a new Comexi Slitter machine equipped with state-of-the-art laser technology. Earlier this year, they also purchased a new Pouch machine worth 500,000 Euros.
According to William Roberts, the managing director, these recent developments are crucial for the future of the business, allowing for improved efficiency, future-proofing, and better support for the growing customer base. The new flexo printing press, for example, can run up to 500 meters per minute and is equipped with the latest A RUN technology to minimize setup time and material waste. On the other hand, the slitting machine with laser technology enables various applications, such as microperforation, macroperforation, numbering, barcodes, QR codes, and security systems.
Roberts Mart’s investment in equipment is aligned with their sustainable goals, as it helps reduce waste and their carbon footprint. These investments also position the company to effectively handle an increase in new contracts, as their business turnover has already exceeded £45 million in the previous year.
Headquartered in Leeds, Roberts Mart supplies packaging solutions to brands in the UK and Europe. With a staff of 220, the company primarily operates in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector, serving clients like Highland Spring and John Cotton Group.
