Leeds-based Axiologik, the advanced digital delivery firm, has appointed David Sugden as their new Head of Engineering, further strengthening their technical team. Sugden brings extensive experience and expertise in software development, architecture, and end-to-end delivery.
His career in the technology industry began at AXA as a junior developer after graduating from university. He then joined Equifax in the late 1990s, where his passion for technology and diverse interests started to flourish. Throughout his 26-year tenure at Equifax, Sugden made significant progress, transitioning from developer roles to senior developer and architecture positions within the company.
Over the course of his career, Sugden shifted his focus from understanding applications to enhancing the process of building them, particularly in the realm of full end-to-end delivery. His proficiency expanded to encompass requirements capturing, project management, development, testing, customer support, and overall service delivery.
During his time at Equifax, Sugden also led engineering initiatives for the UK team, promoting best practices and implementing ancillary systems to maintain excellence. He found success in the production space, excelling in supporting applications, managing customers, and overseeing 24/7 services. Notably, Sugden established the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) function at Equifax’s UK branch and played an integral role in its growth and development.
Upon returning to the UK, Sugden joined Axiologik, where he aims to expand and cultivate his team. Regarding his decision to join the company, he stated, “My interest in enhancing development experience and productivity seamlessly aligns with Axiologik’s mission. The firm focuses on delivering effective and efficient solutions to businesses, ensuring they can roll out new features swiftly while maintaining cost-effectiveness. This is currently a prominent topic in the tech industry, and I believe my expertise will be invaluable in achieving Axiologik’s goals.”
Ben Davison, Axiologik’s Director, expressed enthusiasm about Sugden’s addition to the team and the positive impact he will have on advancing the engineering practice. He anticipates Sugden bringing innovative ideas and valuable insights to solidify Axiologik’s position as a leading force in the digital delivery realm.
