Cosworth has named Simon Wilding as the new Managing Director of the company’s Advanced Propulsion and Full Vehicle Programmes division, Delta Cosworth. Wilding, who joined the company in November, will be based at Cosworth’s Silverstone facility.
This strategic move is a natural progression for Cosworth, as they continue to develop a wide range of high-performance, alternative propulsion solutions. With nearly 30 years of experience, Wilding will be instrumental in driving the growth of the business, with a focus on full vehicle programmes, advanced propulsion systems, and high-performance battery solutions.
In 2020, Wilding was recruited by JLR to lead a newly established Propulsion department within Special Vehicle Operations. Previous to this, he held a key role at Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains. As Head of Automotive Division and Chief Engineer, he played a significant role in the delivery of pioneering hybrid technologies to Formula One.
Delta Cosworth has been a prominent player in the UK’s motorsport industry for almost two decades. Aside from its expertise in high-performance battery solutions, the company has expanded into sustainable propulsion applications, such as the Cosworth Catalytic Generator.
The appointment of Wilding signifies a new chapter for Delta Cosworth, as the company looks ahead to furthering its advanced propulsion and full vehicle capabilities. Wilding takes over from Simon Dowson, who served as Managing Director for nearly 20 years.
Commenting on his new role, Wilding stated, “I am very excited to be joining Cosworth at such an important time in its history.” He also acknowledged the company’s pursuit to become an industry leader and expressed confidence in his ability to contribute to its growth.
Cosworth CEO, Hal Reisiger, praised Wilding’s extensive OEM experience and affirmed his belief that Wilding’s leadership will drive the next phase of growth for the company’s Advanced Propulsion and Full Vehicle Programmes offering.
As Wilding comes on board, Reisiger also expressed gratitude to Simon Dowson for his dedication to the company and wished him well in his future endeavors. Reisiger underlined the excitement for the future of Delta Cosworth under Wilding’s leadership.
