Diagnexia has secured almost £50,000 in funding from the Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) to acquire a new digital pathology scanner. This investment will enable healthcare organizations to connect with specialists worldwide.
Diagnexia offers an advanced pathology diagnostics platform that allows hospitals and laboratories to refer medical samples to a global network of specialist clinicians. By doing so, they can significantly reduce their diagnostic turnaround times and pathology backlogs.
Due to its remarkable growth in demand, Diagnexia has expanded its headquarters at Exeter Science Park. The company has experienced a 450% increase in demand since December 2022, with medium-sized hospitals now submitting approximately 500 cases per month.
To meet the rising demand and ensure more hospitals can access their streamlined digital services, Diagnexia has received a £49,780 grant from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) via the Heart of the South West LEP. This funding will be utilized to acquire an additional scanner at the Exeter site, ultimately resulting in shorter turnaround times for diagnosis and consultations. Additionally, this expansion will create five new jobs for laboratory technicians at the Science Park.
Chair of the Heart of the South West LEP, Karl Tucker, expresses pride in supporting Diagnexia’s growth and contributing to their mission of improving the UK’s healthcare services. He highlights Diagnexia’s revolutionary approach in connecting healthcare organizations with a global network of specialists, ensuring the highest quality of care for patients.
Professor Runjan Chetty, Chief Medical Officer at Diagnexia, expresses gratitude towards the Heart of the South West LEP for their generous grant. This funding reaffirms Diagnexia’s commitment to resources at Exeter Science Park, enabling a national and international strategy to enhance patient care through high-quality and expedited pathology reporting.
Sally Basker, CEO of Exeter Science Park, emphasizes the park’s support for Diagnexia’s growth plans. The new equipment and additional job opportunities will enable Diagnexia to capitalize on market opportunities while strengthening their presence at Exeter Science Park, which is already thriving with medical and healthcare businesses.
