Lendlease has been chosen by Gateshead Council’s development partner Ask:PATRIZIA to carry out the construction of The Sage International Conference Centre at Gateshead Quays. This decision comes shortly after Gateshead Council’s planning committee authorized revised plans for the 61,440 sqm waterfront project. The modifications to the design included moving the 344-room dual branded hotel to a neighboring site and utilizing the remaining space to create an urban park that will connect the Gateshead Millennium Bridge to Hawks Road.
Over the past two years, preparatory work has been underway and Lendlease intends to commence construction later this year. The estimated Gross Development Value (GDV) for The Sage International Conference Centre is £150m. The first phase of the project will involve delivering a state-of-the-art exhibition space spanning 5,720 sqm, adaptable meeting space of 2,520 sqm, 17 conference rooms, and a banqueting suite. Additionally, the first phase will include the hotel and urban park. ASM Global will manage The Sage International Conference Centre upon completion.
