LVF Packaging, a leading packaging manufacturer, has recently installed 670 new solar panels at its headquarters in Leeds. This impressive investment of over £300k in solar power has resulted in the panels generating close to 300,000 kw of energy at peak times and 185MWh per annum.
Thanks to this significant investment, LVF Packaging is now able to produce all the electricity it requires to operate on a 24/7 basis. Daniel Coates, the business development director at LVF Packaging, explained that their initial installation of solar panels in 2014 was part of their strategic plan to become a truly sustainable business.
Daniel Coates further stated, “We are thrilled to see that solar power has progressed to a point where it can cover all our electricity costs for a manufacturing project of our size. We are now even considering expanding our solar power capacity.”
LVF Packaging has a strong commitment to sustainability, extending beyond solar power. Daniel emphasized that going green is no longer optional for businesses. He stated, “Many businesses have simply jumped on the green bandwagon without genuinely committing to sustainable practices. However, for years, we have been diligently working on incorporating green initiatives into our business. We have not only recycled 100% of our plastic waste since 2020, but we also recycle all our cardboard waste. Additionally, all our products are fully recyclable.”
LVF Packaging is also at the forefront of using biodegradable plastic, Breakdown PET. This innovation ensures that any plastic waste produced using this material will naturally decompose, even if it ends up in landfill.
Daniel expressed gratitude for the decisions to embrace green practices, especially in a time of rising material and energy costs. He concluded, “Our commitment to sustainability not only contributes to saving the environment, but it also secures a sustainable future for our business and employees.”
In conclusion, LVF Packaging’s investment in solar power, alongside its ongoing dedication to recycling and using biodegradable materials, reflects the company’s strong focus on sustainability.
