Wake Smith Solicitors, a law firm in Sheffield, has hired a new director and head of residential conveyancing.
Bonita Wolfenden, who has worked in the industry for more than ten years, will lead the 15-person team with the help of directors Anne Emmerson and Amanda Cowley. The team’s main goal will be to develop and grow the Wake Smith conveyancing brand in both the city centre and the surrounding areas.
Wolfenden used to be a director at Switalskis Solicitors, where she started and ran the South Yorkshire conveyancing team. She now works for the company.
Before joining Switalskis, she was a partner at Keebles, where she ran the residential conveyancing department in Sheffield, Leeds, and Doncaster.
Bonita Wolfenden said: “Wake Smith has a good name in Sheffield because its lawyers are well-liked and its clients are great. I’m looking forward to going back to work in the office. This will allow me to lead and support the busy team, as well as take advantage of the multi-disciplinary approach that a corporate and commercial law firm can offer.
“After the rough few years that everyone in the industry has had, it’s important for a conveyancing department to get back to work in order to grow and thrive. Now is the time to focus on teamwork, to get back together, and to work together to improve the service Wake Smith can give to its clients.”
Acting head of property at Wake Smith Solicitors, Paul Gibbon, added: “Bonita is a skilled lawyer, and when she takes over our conveyancing team, she will be a huge asset to our firms. Her knowledge of the area and her wide range of specialised skills will be very helpful to the team and to our clients.
“We’re glad to see the department keep growing, which will help us solidify our position in the market in the long run.”
