Sintons, a law firm based in Newcastle, has achieved certification as a carbon neutral business through carbon reduction and offsetting efforts.
Working alongside carbon reduction experts, Planet Mark, Sintons embarked on a journey to calculate and minimise their carbon footprint in adherence to PAS2060, the global standard for carbon neutrality, managing their usage of electricity, water, waste disposal and travel to decrease their emissions.
The company also invested in carbon offsetting practices, balancing their emissions by supporting external emissions reducing projects. Sintons’ environmental team played a key role in the company’s sustainability work, leading the efforts to choose the best carbon offsetting project, purifying water to reduce fuel use and pollution in Cambodia.
While they achieved carbon neutral status earlier than planned, the law firm is still working towards its goal of net zero by 2040. Future actions include the further reduction of emissions in their entire chain, better known as scope three emissions, and the definition of clear targets for forthcoming years.
