AppLearn, a Manchester-based Digital Adoption Platform (DAP) vendor, has been acquired by Nexthink, a US leader in digital employee experience management software. Although the exact amount of the acquisition was not officially disclosed, in January 2022, AppLearn had raised an eight-figure sum from Silicon Valley Bank and Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund. Their aim was to scale international reach after a $25m (£20m) investment from K1 Investment Management in 2019.
Nexthink, who coined the term Digital Employee Experience (DEX), is on a mission to make a positive impact by allowing employees to interact with the IT environment seamlessly. Combining the two category leaders will advance the power of DEX, and pave the way for an end-to-end solution that eliminates digital friction while driving ROI from software investments.
AppLearn achieved tremendous growth in the past decade. It transitioned from a family-run services business, offering digital transformation consultancy, to a product-led model. AppLearn secured multiple rounds of investment, acquired another business to expand product capabilities, and won numerous workplace culture and growth awards. The acquisition of Slovakian-based DAP provider YesElf in January 2022 tripled its development capacity. Avanessian joined AppLearn first as COO in 2019, then became CEO.
Pedro Bados, co-founder and CEO of Nexthink, believes that maintaining an incident-free infrastructure is pivotal for employee productivity and satisfaction, but empowering employees to learn, adapt, and obtain maximum value from their applications represent the crucial last mile of the digital experience. The Lausanne-Boston headquartered Nexthink has a global presence with nine offices worldwide.
