Northumbria University is proud to announce its partnership with Ribston Ltd and Mott MacDonald Ltd to provide two new scholarships to students. Both companies are highly respected in the real estate and engineering sectors, and the scholarships will help students from under-represented backgrounds who wish to pursue studies in Northumbria University.
Ribston Ltd is partnering with the Higher Education Without Barriers program to provide nine undergraduate real estate scholarships for disadvantaged students, while Mott MacDonald Ltd is supporting an inaugural postgraduate scholarship in Renewable and Sustainable Energy Technologies. Both initiatives will offer support for students from diverse backgrounds to achieve their respective career goals.
James Havery, Director of Ribston Ltd shares that “it’s a great scheme operated by Northumbria, and we are very happy to be able to support it,” while Lynn Johnson, Assistant Professor in Built Environment, said: “We are incredibly grateful for the support of Ribston Ltd through their generous donation.”
Additionally, Sarah May, Senior Project Manager / Newcastle Cross Sector Advisory Team Lead at Mott MacDonald Ltd, expressed excitement over the scholarship recipient’s vision of creating a greener future for all, aligning with their company’s commitment to creating sustainable solutions.
These scholarships mark a continuation of Northumbria’s successful program, Higher Education Without Barriers. With the support of alumni, businesses, and charitable partners, it provides a range of financial initiatives, mental health & well-being services, and community-based projects to make participation and progression in higher education more achievable for motivated students, regardless of their circumstances.
Thanks to the generosity of various donors, the program has raised over £2.6 million, created 150 new scholarships, and supported over 2,000 students since it launched in January 2022. For more information and contact details, refer to the Bdaily Members’ News section.
