Derby-based Oberoi Consulting has recently appointed a medical director to enhance the company’s portfolio of population health tools and clinical support services for the NHS and pharmaceutical industry. Professor Ahmet Fuat has been brought on board after serving as a GP for 37 years in the same practice in Darlington.
During his impressive tenure, Professor Fuat led the Darlington PCN CVD and research, and pioneered the establishment of the United Kingdom’s first-ever one stop diagnostic clinic for suspected heart failure. In addition, he successfully operated an integrated heart failure service across primary and secondary care for two decades. His extensive research in heart failure diagnosis and management, particularly on natriuretic peptides, played a pivotal role in shaping national and international guidelines. Consequently, he received an Honorary Professorial Chair at Durham University as recognition for his remarkable achievements.
Notably, Professor Fuat has held various prominent national positions, including serving as the president of the groundbreaking Primary Care Cardiovascular Society (PCCS), which he played a vital role in reforming. He also served as an advisor to NHSE in CVD and continues to hold education and research leadership positions for PCCS, AHSN North East and North Cumbria (NENC) primary care heart failure and lipid leads. Furthermore, he maintains his role as a GP research engagement lead for NENC CRN and will soon assume the position of Honorary Consultant lipidologist/GPSI for County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust.
Having been a client of Oberoi Consulting for several years, Professor Fuat has direct experience and knowledge of the company’s primary care population health tools, which have proved invaluable in supporting the NHS to accurately identify and optimize treatment for patients.
In his new role, Professor Fuat will offer clinical supervision and mentorship to Oberoi’s growing team of clinicians who are actively engaged in collaborating with a growing number of GP surgeries across the UK. The company is actively seeking to recruit additional healthcare professionals to provide clinical support services.
Commenting on his appointment, Professor Fuat stated, “Having witnessed the positive impact of Oberoi Consulting’s work on patient care, I am thrilled to join the team and contribute to the future development of our services. Oberoi’s work not only enhances patient outcomes but also provides much-needed support to the already overstretched NHS workforce. By working together, we can improve decision-making, enhance accountability, and boost productivity in healthcare settings.”
Kavita Oberoi OBE, the founder and managing director of Oberoi Consulting, emphasized the significance of expanding the company’s population health tools and healthcare professional teams. This expansion aims to effectively stratify high-risk patients and build greater capacity within the NHS to deliver improved outcomes. She further expressed her confidence in Professor Fuat’s experience and expertise, highlighting his understanding of their working philosophy and commitment to achieving excellence. Undoubtedly, Professor Fuat will be an invaluable asset to the organization’s management team.
