Ideal Heating, the market leader in the heating industry, has recently launched its first UK heat pump production line in Hull. This signifies a significant investment in low carbon technologies and demonstrates the company’s dedication to supporting the UK’s drive towards achieving net zero emissions. To commemorate this milestone, Lord Callanan, the minister for energy efficiency and green finance, visited Ideal Heating’s Hull factory.
The introduction of the new heat pump production line is part of a comprehensive £60m investment program at the Hull site. This program includes the expansion of the distribution hub, the establishment of a research and development center to pioneer future heating technologies, and the creation of a heat pump manufacturing facility. Furthermore, Ideal Heating has spent over £2m on a leading-edge training center in Hessle, East Yorkshire, where up to 5,000 installers per year can acquire the necessary skills to install and service heat pumps.
As the industry leader in both domestic and commercial heating sectors, Ideal Heating is taking the lead in driving the industry towards a greener future. Supported by its parent company, Groupe Atlantic, a global leader in the heating industry, Ideal Heating’s CEO, Shaun Edwards, affirms that the transition to low carbon heating solutions, including heat pumps, is the most significant transformation in the business since the shift from coal to gas-fired boilers in the 1930s. The investments made at the Hull site serve as a clear indication of Ideal Heating’s commitment to the net zero transition and to adapting its business model to meet the current and future needs of its customers.
Ideal Heating’s transition to renewable heating solutions is imperative in facilitating the UK’s green industrial revolution. With homes accounting for more than a quarter of all greenhouse gas emissions, a substantial decarbonization of housing stock must occur if the UK aims to achieve net zero status by 2050. Lord Callanan’s visit to Hull acknowledges the crucial role played by Ideal Heating in the industry’s green transition and recognizes the company’s standing as a significant UK manufacturer and employer.
Having an 800-strong workforce in Hull, mostly in manufacturing roles, Ideal Heating employs around 1,500 individuals across the UK through the company and its affiliated businesses. Lord Callanan’s visit marked the commencement of heat pump production and also the official opening of Ideal Heating’s £2.2m National Training and Technology Centre in Hessle. Addressing the Ideal Heating staff, Lord Callanan commended their outstanding work, highlighting Ideal Heating as the most advanced traditional gas boiler manufacturer.
Jason Speedy, Chief Operations Officer at Ideal Heating, expresses excitement about the significant investment in the Hull site and the establishment of the new training center. With the backing of its parent company, Groupe Atlantic, Ideal Heating strives to diversify its product portfolio and continue driving innovation in new technologies.
