360 Chartered Accountants is restarting its popular series of Saturday Morning Surgeries in the New Year after feedback from clients.
With the deadline for self-assessment tax returns to be submitted coming on January 31st, 2024, the first of the specialist surgeries, on Saturday 6th January, will cover personal tax.
Lisa Powell, 360’s Personal Tax Manager, said:
“The personal tax surgery is such a great opportunity for anyone struggling to do their own tax return to get expert advice. It may be that you’ve only just realised you need to do one for the first time or if you’ve recently started up in business, you may want clarification on what the tax implications are. We can also help those with rental property that need to do their self-assessment as well as self-employed sole traders who are considering becoming a limited company. They can come in and have a chat about the differences between being a sole trader and a limited company and how it could affect the tax they pay.
“In addition, I would always advise people not to be scared of HMRC. At the end of the day, they are just people doing a job. You should not be afraid to question your tax because even HMRC get it wrong sometimes.”
Meanwhile, as more new businesses start up in the New Year than at any other time of the year, the second surgery, on Saturday 13th January, 2024, will be for startup businesses.
Andy Steele, Founder of 360 Chartered Accountants, said:
“Our January surgery for startups has always been extremely popular. People often tell us they have made a New Year’s resolution to set up in business. They’ve been thinking of exciting new opportunities and they want help bringing their ideas into reality. Others say that while they were on their Christmas break they have realised how much they dislike their current job so they’re looking at what alternatives are out there.
“Our specialist surgery gives them the opportunity to discuss all of the usual aspects of setting up a business including which legal entity to choose (limited company, traditional partnership, sole trader etc), registering with the necessary authorities, bookkeeping, tax and insurance requirements. We are also happy to give guidance on IT, marketing, networking, social media, time management and recruitment.”
The 360 Saturday Surgeries, which take place between 9am and 12 noon at the firm’s headquarters on Albion Street in Hull, have been so popular in previous years, they have had people queuing out the door to see them. That’s why this year they are requesting that people book in advance.
To secure your free, no obligation appointment, please email events@360accountants.co.uk. Alternatively, you can DM on any of 360’s social media platforms or call 01482 427360.
You don’t have to be a 360 client to attend. All are welcome. You’ll even get coffee and croissants on arrival.
However, if these dates aren’t convenient, the 360 team is more than happy to meet people at a time to suit them. For instance, if you are in full-time employment, you can arrange a one-to-one chat before work or one evening.
