Leading digital cinema software solutions provider, Unique X, has secured a significant investment of £63.5m from Kartesia. The deal marks an exit for BGF, which had initially invested £15m in December 2018 to support the Manchester-based company’s product expansion and global growth. Kartesia specialises in offering capital solutions to SMEs with high growth potential. The investment will help Unique X achieve its global expansion ambitions and accelerate the implementation of its business strategy through the use of AI and data. Under founder Chris Hagan’s strategic vision and with the support of its experienced board, Unique X aims to triple in size and consolidate its position as a leader in modernising cinema industry technologies, supported by customers globally. Hagan will retain 85% ownership of the company. Previously, Unique X trebled profitability and installed software in 42,000 cinemas across 90+ countries, showing significant growth and operational efficiency under BGF.
