Eric Wright Group, a Preston-based property and construction firm, has delivered its 100th electric fleet vehicle to a client.
Prabjeet Kaur, who joined the company in early March as a bid writer for the civil engineering division, was awarded the Cupra Born as a welcome gift.
Sceptre House, the company’s headquarters in Bamber Bridge, is where group fleet and transport manager Steve Openshaw handed Kaur the keys to the car.
Openshaw said: “It’s a landmark moment for us to have 100 electric vehicles in the fleet and it’s lovely to present it to our newest member of staff, Prabjeet.
“This marks the moment we also exceed the halfway mark for the group’s car fleet being fully electric. Over 250,000 electric miles have been driven between January and August 2022, which has significantly contributed to the group’s overall carbon reduction targets.”
Seventy-six percent of Eric Wright Group’s fleet are ULEVs (Ultra Low Emission Vehicles), and half are electric.
Sixty percent of the company’s leased cars will be hybrids, plug-in hybrids, or pure electrics by 2023, two years earlier than originally planned.
Prabjeet Kaur added: “This is the first time I have had an electric vehicle and I’m delighted to be able to drive it in my new role. The provision of local charging points has increased rapidly in recent years and we now have twenty at Sceptre House and thirty at our sites across the north west region.
“I’m confident that it will be a smooth transition to driving an electric vehicle and that it will have a significant impact on the business’s carbon reduction plans.”
